Greek Reader’s Lexicon, version 1.2

3

(Already!)

Yes, it’s a very quick update on last time, but I just discovered a bug that only shows up in iOS 4.2, which is due to be released any day now.

New features in version 1.2:

  • Greek font selection
I’ve added a few more Greek font choices for those of you who, like me, want things just so
    .
  • Compiled for iOS 4.2, but should run for iOS ≥ 3.1

Bug Fix:
There was a really annoying bug that under certain circumstances removed the navigation buttons from the settings window, effectively trapping you there. This is now remedied, and should play much more nicely with anyone with the new OS update.

If you’ve got version 1.1 and this happens to you, here’s the work-around for the next couple of days until the new version is approved.

  • Double-tap the home button to get the recently-accessed list of apps.
  • Tap-and-hold the Greek Reader app (as if you were to move it around), then tap the little red minus badge that appears.
  • Re-open Greek Reader, and you should see the search view again.
  • Don’t change your font until you get version 1.2!

Sorry for any inconvenience this causes anyone. The update should be just a few days away on past experiences.

Greek Reader’s Lexicon, version 1.1

1

I’ve just submitted an update to the app store — it’s awaiting review.

Many thanks to those who’ve sent positive feedback, feature requests, bug reports, and encouragement my way. Cheers.

This update adds a few features, and fixes one particular bug.

New features:

  • Greek font selection
The font face of greek words can now be changed to suit your mood. I’ve included two beautiful fonts from the Greek Font Society, GFS Didot and GFS Neohellenica. (These non-standard fonts are only available for iOS versions ≥ 3.2. If you’re still rocking 3.1, you can still choose from about 4 standard fonts such as Times or Helvetica.)
  • Inline frequency notes
The gloss view now has the option to display a frequency count for that word in the whole New Testament.
  • Search Length
The number of verses searched at any one time (in the gloss view) is now changeable, from 5 verses to 25 at a time.
  • Supports fast app switching (iOS 4.0 and later)

Bug Fixes:
In the previous version if you searched on a range that over the end of a book (e.g. starting at Matt 28:19) the app would crash. That’s now fixed, which is much more helpful when you’ve got a big search set of 25 verses at a time.

We should be approved in a couple of days, and you’ll get a notification in the usual way that you’ve got an app to update.

The Waiting Game

1

My app is now waiting for review in the app store. Hopefully for not too long.

And I’m waiting for my GST registration so I’m allowed to sell it in Australia (interestingly, this is Apple’s rule, not the ATO’s).

The waiting game begins.
